Abstract
Audio fingerprinting is the process of identifying audio samples by extracting compact signatures from raw PCM data. In this talk we walk through building a complete fingerprinting pipeline in Rust:
- WAV decoding and sample normalization
- FFT-based spectrogram generation
- Peak detection and constellation maps
- Hash generation and database lookup
Key Takeaways
- Rust's zero-cost abstractions make DSP pipelines both fast and safe
- The
rustfftcrate provides competitive performance with C FFT libraries - Real-time fingerprinting is achievable on commodity hardware with careful memory management
